Brewers love this yeast strain for dark beers. Its high alcohol tolerance makes it a go-to for big beers. A beautiful strain for stout, porter, brown, and amber ales. Darkness produces a unique character that matches up perfectly with roasted and caramel malts. This strain is alcohol tolerant, so don’t hesitate to throw high gravity worts its way.

Beer Styles

Irish Dry Stout: A black beer with a pronounced roasted flavor, often similar to coffee. The balance can range from fairly even to quite bitter, with the more balanced versions having a little malty sweetness and the bitter versions being quite dry. Draught versions typically are creamy from a nitro pour, but bottled versions will not have this dispense-derived character. The roasted flavor can be dry and coffee-like to somewhat chocolaty.

American Stout: A fairly strong, highly roasted, bitter, hoppy dark stout. Has the body and dark flavors typical of stouts with a more aggressive American hop character and bitterness.

Important Notice: This is perishable liquid yeast which we store at 38 degrees F. We recommend our Yeast Warranty Box (item S96) to guarantee that this will arrive in viable condition.
