Authentic Kolsch Strain
This yeast gives a very nice and authentic ester profile I expect from Kolsch style beers that I like. Beers made with this yeast have faintly winey (vinous) ester which set them apart from yeasts that are really lager strains (WLP 029). Everybody has preferences, right? This yeast will take a while to clear, but lagering this style is appropriate and the yeast will drop during this time. Love this yeast and the smack packaging!
Great Kolsch Results
Brewed a Kolsch for the summer using this yeast strand. Expect a quick flocculation. Aged at room temp for two weeks, then at 52-55 degrees for one month. Crisp, clean, lager type flavor which was a hit with everyone. Its all gone now, so I just brewed another 12 Gallon Batch of All Grain. Looking forward to having this beer on the shelf again. Recommend for a great house beer.
