For the deepest red color and smooth flavor, our American Red has been mashed without roasted barley, just with a large proportion of light and dark crystal malt. Brew your own robust red beers to your own taste without the need for mashing. Preboiled 15 minutes before vacuum extraction, so you only need to do a 30 minute boil if you desire.

A: Approximately 16 -18 lovibond, when 6 pounds are diluted in 5 gallons of water.

Q: I am planning on making 4.50 gallons of red ale with 4 lb of your red liquid malt extract ,1.50 lb of pale ale dry malt extract, and milled grains in a muslin bag, none of which are crystal malts. How sweet would this ale be considering that 30 percent of your red liquid malt extract is crystal malt?
A: The extract itself will not add a lot of sweetness, as it ferments out well. The added steeping grains may add some sweetness, but the extract will not be a sweetner in this recipe.

Q: Does this come as one 6 or 8 pound package, or is a few smaller packs?
A: It comes as one 4, 6, or 8 pound pouch, depending on which size you order.
Beware of the packaging
I am having a hard time being charitable. I bought the 8 pound size, and it came in an 8 pound bladder. I had hoped to split it into two 2 1/2 gallon batches, and use the extra to be the base of a partial extract batch. I'm going to have to find something to keep 5# of malt in before I can open it. I assume it is worthy malt, but I missed my brewday due to logistics.

Makes a great beer
I usually all-grain brew, but I wanted to save time so I gave this 8# pack a try with 6 oz of Citra pellets (60, 20, 15, 10, 5, 0 minutes) and WLP001, and it came out fantastic. I'll definitely brew this again.
My first red
Just finished my first american style red with this extract. It was great!!!

I have had excellent results using this product. It has been very consistant in quality and results everytime I have used it. I plan on using a lot more of it.
