Made of compressed sodium metabisulfite and used as an antioxident. Usually used at the rate of 1 tablet per gallon by wine and mead makers as a preservative before, during, and after fermentation. One tablet per gallon adds about 30ppm free S02. 1 pound bag contains approximately 730 tablets.

no directions
There weren't directions on the bag as to how many tablets in a gallon of water it takes to create a sanitizing product. I looked online and found that one tablet would be enough, which was ridiculous. I added 10 tablets at a time, shook up the gallon, then waited. I finally got the smell I expect to get when I buy a 4 ounce bag of potassium metabisulfate when I reached 30 tablets. The product is good, but directions would be a nice addition.
