If you make yeast starters, our heat-resistant glass Erlenmeyer flasks are perfect for preparing the starter solution and growing the yeast. Put the bottle directly on your stove to boil and then cool (with the bottle sealed with a foam stopper) before adding yeast to minimize the chance of infection. Withstands temperatures of over 700 F.
This 3000 ML bottle requires a #10 rubber stopper. Or use our Q38 Foam Stopper as an airlock to seal while making yeast starters.
A gas stove is recommended, as electric burners can cause the glass to crack.
NOTE: These are general laboratory student grade made in China, and may have small bubbles in the glass or other imperfections that will not affect use.

Q: what are the dimensions? should I get the 2000ml stirstarter or the 5000ml stirstarter
A: This flask is 12" wide, and 17.5" tall. We would recommend the EZ Stir Plate (item R89) with this large flask.

Q: what is the brand of this flask? Does it have a flat or concave bottom?
A: These are generic student grade flasks made in China. Their bottoms are slightly concave, although a stir bar can be used with these.

Q: Your foam stopper #10-#11 (Q02) states that it will not fit your flasks. However, I'm wondering if at the time of your foam description entry, you did not have this size flask. Will this foam stopper fit the 3000 mL flask?
A: For our 3000 Ml Erlenmeyer Flask, item T45, our Q38 Foam Stopper fits best.

Q: After boiling the starter wort in your flasks, can you put them in a cold water bath to cool?
A: Yes, you can.

Over Build Yeast Starters!
This is a good flask, has a flat bottom and works well on my stir plate. I use it for overbuilding my yeast starters in order to have yeast for my next batch. Works like a charm!
Flask
This was a choice I made that ended up being a good one. I wanted a nice flask but didnt want to pay the pyrex price so I eventually found this one. It showed up very quickly and is a very nice piece of glass. No bubbles and is exactly what I needed. Thank you guys. A+ I will be back when I need another one
3000 ml flask
Always had a 2000 ml flask for starters and always felt crowded. Do yourself a favor and go straight to the 3L. This flask has obvious imperfections ; however, it works fine right on top of the gas stove transferred straight to a cold water bath. Stir plate spins w/o a problem.
Fantastic
Great flask for making starters. Works well with my homemade whirlpool plate. What’s more I can make 3L starters for my imperials or decant a liter of fresh yeast to use later. Helps in the long run.
Good Service
