A uniquely roasted malt from Canada which contributes a warm, toasted flavor to beer and a deep golden color. This malt is in the German style of bruhmalt and has the aroma of honey and a sweet malty taste. Use in recipes specifying toasted malt, and in any beer where a malty flavor is needed without any astringent roast flavors.

A mellow little kick
I am an extract brewer, usually using William's kits. But I tend to muck about with the recipes after the first time I use a particular kit. I will frequently do a "mini-mash": using 1-3 pounds of grains I will make a porridge that I mash at 155F for 60 minutes. I've used 6-8 oz of Gambrinus Honey in the mini-mash, along with another malted grain such as a Vienna or Munich. The Gambrinus consistently mellows the other grains while adding a nice malty flavor. A mini-mash with this grain, along with a healthy dry-hop, has changed William's American IPA kit from a very good beer to one I'd willingly put up against many commercial microbrews.
Takes the Edge Out and lets the Malt in!
Pros: I really like how this grain mellows out the finished product. Before using this grain and making a low to med gravity beer I still would get too much grainy flavors in the finish. Wow this really helped. I put 2-3lbs w/ 5# 2-row and have a good base to start. Nice amber color too.
Cons: 25°L is a little dark. Wish I could get the same flavors under 10°L.
