Q: Will this work with a Grainfather?
A: It does fit our older 30 liter Grainfather we have here, and the feet engage with the basket holders on the Grainfather. It will probably interfere with the filter on the bottom when in the down position.

A nice upgrade!
The series 2 sparge basket is a nice upgrade for my original Mash & Boil. The improved flow, recirculating by hand, resulted in improved wort clarity and more uniform grain bed temperature.
Series 1
My 6 year old Brewers Edge Series 1 still works great for me. Looking forward to purchasing the series 2 sparge basket when it becomes available. It took a few brews to dial it in. For what it’s worth. I would like to see on future generations a digital SCR instead of the current 2 stage heating elements.

This basket is a big improvement for a great brew system. I used it with a 50% wheat recipe this weekend, without any problems. The legs are stronger and the screening allows for much better flow.
Customer has to buy an upgrade due to a manufactory flaw
So the original mash and boil has a design flaw. Instead of fixing it for the customer, They offer an $89 basket upgrade. Not a good way to build customer loyalty. I'll stick to the original basket, and put the $89 towards a better quality replacement.
William's Brewing Responds: We disagree, the original Mash & Boil came out 7 years ago and was state of the art for the time. The new Series 2 has improvements which time (and our customers) has told us are needed. Just like everyone from Ford Motor Company to Apple Computer, we have the right to improve products over time, We support the older Series 1 by offering this upgrade basket, as well as an extensive line of replacement parts.
