The KegLand Alcoengine Pot Still has been improved with quick disconnect garden hose fittings, so you no longer need to haul the cooling water hoses around with the still head when assembling or disassembling.
This is the condenser to get for a traditional pot still, when you want to taste the flavor of the mash, when distilling traditional whiskey. This fits all still lids and copper domes with a standard 47mm wide hole, also also fits 2" Tri Clamp fittings. You must purchase a still lid and have a distilling unit like a Digiboil, Mash & Boil, Robobrew, Brewzilla, Grainfather, Anvil Foundry, or Turbo 500 Boiler to make this work as a complete distilling unit. Includes 3' of 3/16" outlet silicone tubing.
You will need to run cold water through the condensing column while your run is in progress. You have two cooling options here, you can either use your own garden hoses and Melnor- style hose disconnects, or buy our KegLand Still Cooling Connection Kit, item Q74.

Q: I have want to hook mine to a glycol chiller but the cheap plastic quick connects always leak. Is there a better quick connect that uses a hose barb and clamp like a ball lock quick connect for a corny keg? I've already tried both gas and liquid ball lock connectors. The liquid one doesn't fit at all and the gas one connects but nothing flows through it since theres nothing to push the plunger down.
A: Look at our item Q57, this is a brass version of the plastic quick disconnect, and the one we currently use for our tubing connection kit. We find them very reliable. One thing you can also do when you have a ball lock that is either hard to connect or disconnect, or that leaks, is to make sure the rubber O ring on the post is in good shape and a little Keg Lube goes a long way to making the quick disconnect easy to use and leak free.

Q: The outspout is very short for this and barely extends to the edge of pot making collections somewhat awkward. Is there anyway to extend it?
A: We use item J47 Silicone Tubing

Q: Do I need the dome Copper lid as well?
A: You can use a stainless lid, such as the lid that is standard on the Mash & Boil and Anvil Foundry. Or if you have Brewzilla, you will need to buy a stainless lid (item B80) or copper dome (item Q89)

Q: The quick disconnects have begun to leak/drip, any suggestions or tips to remedy this problem?
A: Check the o-rings for wear. Lube the o-rings before making the connections. Also do not turn up the water pressure too high as that will cause them to leak.

Q: Is this condenser sealed well enough that a vacuum could be applied for vacuum assisted distillation?
A: We asked Kegland about this and this was their reply: Unfortunately, the boiler and lid are not pressure rated and so we would not recommend doing this.

solid entry-level condenser
Hundred gallon submarine pot it is not, but if you are looking for an affordable condenser to learn about distillation, this is your tool. Small and simple to assemble and operate, this would be great as a demonstration piece to teach a group the fundamentals, or just for small batches. I paired mine with the 7.6gal kegmenter as a boil pot. Basically foolproof, I add on the 2in stainless tube extension (packed with choreboy) which makes it closer to a column still and further cleans your distillate. My only gripe is the cooling coil through which water flows is soldered in place inside, so when and if you wear it out to the point it starts leaking from that coil, not only can you not repair it easily, you also would get hose water flowing into your finish product. Not a biggie as it seems pretty solid and should last, and if you are using it enough to wear it out, perhaps an upgrade is in order. Consider skipping the quick disconnect kit and use compression fittings instead. o7
Copper Quality
Disconnects worked perfectly with the gooseneck. Great overall setup seemed very foolproof!
Great purchase
Works as advertised. Remember that this is only the top. You need the kettle to use this.
This thing works great
I already had a couple of Mile-High pot still milk cans (I use them for cooling wort, using the Aussie No-chill method). This thing mates right up with the 2 inch tri-clover fitting. I had to dig through the shed for a 52 quart cooler, some 1/2 inch hose, and a pond/fountain pump. I couldn't ask for a better price to quality...
