Q: Many still vendors report the sales of stills to the US government. Does this product fall under that reporting obligation, as it could be used for illegal distilling, or do you not report sales since this is essentially an electric pot (though with copper dome) that can be used for many legal reasons?

A: This is an electric pot that can be used for many legal reasons, including distilling water with optional accessories. We do not report sales to anyone.

Q: Hello, Is this a 110v? How many gallons? Does it come with a sparge arm? Is the pump external? Is the pump able to handle high temps (pump wort through plate chiller)? TIA Will

A: The Mash and Boil with pump is 110 volt and holds a maximum seven and a half gallon capacity. It has a recirculation arm for mashing, but not a sparge arm. The internal pump can handle hot wort, but do not run the pump during the boil. Consider using a hop spider if you intend on pumping through a wort chiller at the end of the boil to reduce the chance of the pump clogging.

Q: What is the pump for?

A: Recirculating when you are mashing malted barley or malted wheat. The model with pump is not need for distilling if you are just distilling washes, and not mashing malted barley or malted wheat. You might want to look at our same package without the pump, item #B87.
