Q: can you use this to melt wax for candles? or is the wax too thick? thanks for any help!

A: We have heard of this, but do not warranty units that are used for anything other than brewing purposes. So if a unit fails and has wax residue, we do not honor the warranty, due to the unit not being designed for something as thick as melted wax.

Q: what is the procedure for installing the spigot? Mine leaks.

A: Install with the gasket on the outside of the pot, and tighten the back nut. If it leaks at the joint between the vessel and the valve, perhaps the white silicone O ring washer was not included in yours? (it should of been already on the valve). If so, contact service@williamsbrewing.com and we will take care of this.

Q: I’m using this to melt wax to make candles and I’m getting an error code, any idea why?

A: Yes, wax is too dense and sets off the dry run sensor.

Q: How long does this take to get water to, say, 160F and Boil (let's assume max recommended capacity of 6.4 gal)?

A: If the water inside is 60 degrees F. , figure about 30-40 minutes to get to 160, and 55 minutes to get to boil.

Q: What is the best method for sealing the thermometer hole in the lid? I don't need the thermometer as it will be for mashing only.

A: We do not have a plug for this, although something like a nut and bolt would work.
