A: It weighs 17 pounds when out of the box with the sparging basket inside empty.

Q: Can I use this as a mash tun only? How much wort is below the false bottom?

A: Yes you can, there is 1/2" of space below the sparging basket (it has a sparging basket instead of a false bottom). This 1/2" holds about 1/3 gallon of wort.

Q: Can you do a manual step mash with this?

A: Yes, but it is purely manual, you will have to change the temperature set point each time you want to raise the mash temperature. It can be done, there is just no automation involved.

Q: Can the mash and boil do small batches or just the typical 5 gallon batches?

A: It is not recommended for anything less than a 2.5 gallon batch.
