Q: the invert tube pointed up left about 3" of beer (above the yuck). Is it supposed to be pointed down? I have an older Williams kit and the fermentation bucket hole is about 2.5" above bottom of bucket. Seems like a waste of beer.

A: Yes, it is designed to be pointed down. When pointed down and the valve is not opened, it stays dry and free of yeast sediment during the ferment, and then when you open the valve, it acts like a siphon tube very close to the sediment on the bottom of the fermenter.

Q: Is the opening pointed vertically (12 o'clock)?

A: It is pointed where it ends up after tightening. It should be at 6 pm for proper use.
