Newbies, Take note!

Review by Alex C. on 12/13/2009

Pros: There is a reason why this is one of the (if not THE) highest rated kits William's makes. It will absolutely rock your world. Every person I share this with is enamored with it. It is going to be a staple in my brewing rotation. Even people who aren't normal fans of tripels.

Cons: Running out.

No complaints

Review by John S. on 11/9/2009

Pros: This beer is one of my all time favorites and my friends think so as well. So much so that I have to hide it when they come over. I've made this 2 times and have had no problems brewing. It is a very strong beer though and although the quality of this beer makes you want to drink more it will lay you out flat if you drink this like typical beers.

Cons: None

The Real Deal!

Review by Ted H. on 8/7/2009

Pros: I lived in Belgium for almost 4 years and loved the triple ales! This version is the real deal and always a crowd pleaser with my family and friends.

Cons: None.

Second Batch Review

Review by Jess M. on 1/30/2009

Pros: It's been about three months since my last batch of Trippel and I just bottled my second batch. This time around I added about a half gallon more water to the wort. I found that at five gallons I was actually getting about three and a half to four gallons of finished product after racking and hydrometer readings. This time I got a solid four gallons. My intial reading was down to 1074 from the advertised 1084 but after seven days in the primary I was reading 1030. Seven days in the secondary gave me a 1010. That's an exceptional fermentation!! I use the simple ABV calculation of O.G. minus the F.G. and then divided by 7.46 plus half a percent (.50%) for bottle fermentation. So it bottled at 8.5% and therefore I'm predicting a 9% ABV after three or four weeks in the bottle. Again, the taste right out of the secondary fermenter was excellent. I love these Belgian beer kits. The yeast is very tolerant of temperature variance. The temp in my closet ranges between 64 & 70F. and these Belgian yeasts just motor along with no problems. I just ordered the Belgian Quad and am looking forward to another exceptional beer.

Cons: none

Excellent kit

Review by Jess M. on 11/29/2008

Pros: Mine started with an intial hydrometer reading of 1084. After 7 days I racked it over to the secondary where it was reading 1044. Seven days later it was reading 1018. I'm not sure if I just had the right conditions but according to my calculations this beer will bottle with an ABV of 8.8% and will finish out in the bottle at 9.2%. That is phenomenal for a "beer kit". I did taste the beer from my hydrometer and I can honestly say that it was actually good enough to drink without further conditioning. My hat is off to the folks at Williams Brewing who experiment and create these kits. They most certainly nailed this one.

Cons: None. I'm very, very impressed.
