Excellent with Aging

Review by Paul W. on 2/6/2010

Pros: A strong, well-flavored, but smooth beer after two months of aging. Reminded my brother-in-law of Sam Adam's Winter Lager.

Cons: Was disappointed when I first aged it according to the instructions. I set it aside for two months, and it was vastly improved.

Tasty

Pros: Great hops with a smooth finish. Nice dark amber color and this beer has some kick.

Cons: None. Next time you get a kit I recommend getting this one

Came into it's own.....

Review by Christopher L. on 3/3/2009

Pros: Nice kit, great description. Great flavor after 4 months in the keg.

Cons: I agree, the kit instructions and the equipment directions were different. Tasted lousy after one month...aging is the key to this ale. It is very nice now...

Fireside Ale

Review by Gregg S. on 2/6/2009

Pros: This was a very well balanced beer for winter consumption. Watch out, this beer goes down easily, and packs a punch. Easy to brew, and Iagree with the previous reviewer regarding using a secondary.

Cons: None

Nice kit

Review by Scott D. on 1/31/2009

Pros: Malt forward with just enough hop bitterness to keep it from being cloying. Great head and flavor after three weeks in the bottle.

Cons: Maybe a little bit more hops next time. Also, a secondary is very helpful for this recipe
