A good base for stouts

Review by A Beer Fairy on 3/18/2024

Used 8 lbs of this as a base for my molasses/anise/oatmeal stout. Also added 2.5 lbs of pale ale ME, with some local chinook whole hops. Elected to use the Wyeast Irish ale liquid yeast. Previous results have produced a beer that has a sweeter rather than drier finish. It's not quite an imperial stout but the body could fool a novice palate.

Amazing Baltic Porter

Review by Jonathan F on 1/31/2022

Brewed a baltic porter with this and it turned out amazing. Sometimes it's nice just to use extract for an easy drinking, no fuss beer. I will definitely buy more William's extracts in the future!

Unique Black Malt Base

Review by Patrick on 2/1/2020

I have used the Baltic Black for several specialty beers now and am impressed with this malt formulation. First, it is the most unique dark malt extract out there. Second, the focus of this extract is Pilsner malt, which allows for accurate production of a wider variety beer styles, including Baltic Porter, Schwarzbier and dark Belgian ales. Third, because of the fairly neutral base, the extract works very well with other malts. I used this malt with additional caramel, carastan and chocolate malts to create 2 different specialty beers: Imperial Coconut Porter and an Imperial Cherry Porter. They are two of the best beers I have brewed in 20 years. I could spend years exploring the virtues of this fine malt extract in my home brewery.

Great schwartz bier

Review by Stephen Ruch on 12/20/2019

I used Baltic black extract to brew a schwartz bier ten days ago and just took a gravity reading: 1.050 to 1.012 and I was very happy with the taste of the gravity sample. I can see a black IPA in my future.

Exceptional result

Review by Alex Warren on 5/9/2019

Had a friend bring a bag back to Australia; 1.070 OG 1.014 FG, Centennial and Idaho 7 flameout addition to 50 IBU or so, Fermentis S23 yeast 12C for 3 days then free rise to 18C for 20 days. Chocolate liqueur, dried fruit and bitter orange. Clear like a welder's mask. I'll be doing this again asap.
