Bought this to replace hop bags. It's a little tall for my kettle, but a clamp on the handle secures it. Easier to throw hops and irish moss into this spider than to prepare and reopen hop bags. But the real advantage is cleaning: the residue from hop pellets cleans right off with a scrubbing sponge, used gently.

Works great - not perfect for Grainfather

Plenty big enough for hop head favorites. Fine mesh screen works great even with pellet hops. Only drawback from my perspective, and why I didn't give 5 stars, is that I bought this specifically for use with a Grandfather as advertised on the site. I found that the handle is too long to hook it on the edge of the Grandfather and still have the top of the hop spider above the normal wort level. Hooking the handle on the edge means the hop spider is completely submerged which defeats the purpose of the spider. What worked for me, and I recommend for Grandfather use, is to hook the handle on the recirculation pipe after you swing the pipe out over to the side.
