Hop Spider

Review by Bob Kauffman on 9/30/2017

If there was a way to cover the top of this spider, it would be more useful. But, as it is, when the boiling wort is near the top of the spider the hops fall out. I suppose if it were taller, that might work better. Maybe it works better in the grainfather, but in a converted keg, it's limited in usefulness.

Excellent

Used it with my new Robobrew and it worked great. Great hop aroma/taste transferred through and the hop debris stayed in the spider!

First use caught most trub

Review by Floyd on 6/6/2017

First use caught most trub a little bit leaked over the side of the grandfather. What was nice was that with the handle I could sparge a little bit of the sugars out and still have a nice ball of hops to throw away. Seems to work well. Final taste of brew will determine IBU efficiency and if I need to adjust. I added about 10% more hops to compensate for the mesh. Cheers!

Works well.

Brewed two batches with this so far and it works well with my 15 gallon kettle. The mesh is also fine enough, I can strain first runnings so it's removed my need to vorlauf.

Great for 5g brewing!!!

Got this to use with my 10g kettle and love it! Being able to put pellet and whole hops into it without haveing all of the mess to deal with is great. Just brewed a Heather Rye with 6oz of pellet hops and 6oz of Heather tips and they all fit without little to no escape into the wort. Wish I had this years ago!
