Very nice stout

Review by Ryan H. on 10/26/2009

Pros: I've used this kit twice, and I really love it. Very good flavor and texture, provided you don't add much water to it in the fermenter. I add some fresh roasted coffee beans to to wort to give it a coffee kick. Overall, one of Williams' better kits.

Cons: This is really closer to an English Stout than an Irish stout. To make it as thick as possible, I personally don't add a whole lot of water to the initial wort to make the 5 gallons it recommends. I think it gets a bit watery if over 4 gallons. You have to decrease your priming sugar accordingly if you do this.

Nice- especially with tweaking...

Pros: I added in 1/2 a lb of lactose, and then roasted chocolate nibs in the secondary fermenter. WOW! what a beer!

Cons: Nada.

Great Beer!

Review by William S. on 5/2/2009

Pros: This was my first home brew and I must say it was very easy to make. The beer goes down very smooth without any bitter taste. I've recieved several compliments on how smooth it taste for a Stout. It's good to the last drop!

Cons: None.

Many were quite surprised I brewed it

Review by Marquette, Mi on 3/16/2009

Pros: This is the first I tried it and of course did some play on it. I put a pound of Dutch Dark Chocolate in the wort and 3 very strong pots of coffee in just before bottling and if you like coffee it is a great brew and most loved it. Still the chocolate was there but on the weak side, my next patch will have 1.5 to 2 pounds of chocolate and only 2 pots of coffee.

Cons: it took about 6 months in bottles to get a peak flavor, but perfection can not be rushed. Side Note: 3 pots of coffee will keep you up!!!

Very pleased

Pros: Great color, easy to brew (my 2nd from William's), very smooth Stout, non-beer drinker love it.

Cons: Not really a con, but it is (as mentioned by others) lighter or "thinner" than store bought Stout.
