Can't beat the price.

Review by Mark on 1/20/2012

I thought I'd start commenting on William's Products in part because I haven't seen better prices anywhere else. This Stout is not trying to be Guinness Stout. It's different but I enjoy it just the same. The fact is, you can't beat the price per ounce with a store bought brew. Think; travel, cost, tax, bottle deposit and I'm pretty much captive by them. Never had a complaint and questions are answered post-haste. I do grain brewing as well but these kits are keeping me a repeat buyer of them and I think you will be too.

Stout Delivers

Review by Phil on 9/7/2011

This is definitely one of Williams best brews. I took an unorthodox approach and did keg it though leading to a less carbonated, but still full flavored beer. Some have used nitrogen along with a CO2 cartridge to add a Guinness-y taste, but I just stuck with one CO2 and it tasted fine. Note that this is a very sweet beer and not as thick as you might expect with a stout. Dry with a hint of hops as Williams described. I would not approach this beer in the warmer months and from people that have brewed it along with me they always say to leave it at room temperature when bottled. I do chill mine to make sure the CO2 works better though. If you bottle, don't bother.

Jack Stout

Review by DAVE on 9/6/2011

Ah yes that time of year to make the hearty Jack Daniel's Stout to be ready for October. You don't even need a shot glass! Just add half a fifth or the whole thing just before you bottle. Thank me later.

Brewing Variation

Review by Dennis James Vettese on 9/5/2011

I have been brewing William's kits for years and this is probably my favorite. My last brewing session with this beer I added 6oz of baking cocoa powder and a full pot of William's fresh roasted Columbian Coffee. It added a little different flavor to an already good product.

Versitile Kit, Endless possibilities

Review by CORY S. on 6/15/2010

Pros: I added a pound of rolled oats in a mesh bag to the pot as it heated to a boil, then removed it and followed the remaining kit instructions. On bottling day, I bottled half, then stirred in 6 ounces of cocoa powder to the remaining beer. I knew the powder would not stay in suspension, but wanted a genuine chocolate flavor. My experimentation payed off! Both the "oatmeal stout" and "oatmeal chocolate stout" were AMAZINGLY smooth, flavorful and balanced. Although one needs to invert the bottle to mix the cocoa into the beer, the result is delicate and oh so rewarding.
